The _Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG)_ in Cologne, Germany, is seeking nominations (including self-nominations) for a tenured position of director in the fields of political science or sociology. Nominations should highlight the strengths of the nominee.
Self-nominations should include a CV and a brief outline of the envisioned research program. All nominations will be treated in strict confidence. They will inform the deliberations of an independent search committee appointed by the Max Planck Society.

The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, Germany, is seeking nominations (including self-nominations) for a tenured position of Director in the fields of political science or sociology

Research at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies focuses on the empirical investigation of the dynamics and governance of modern societies with a special interest in the interrelations between politics, society, and the economy.

The successful nominee is expected to establish and pursue a unique and innovative, long-term research program and to inspire and lead a large group of researchers. The nominee should be willing to cooperate with the existing economic sociology research cluster and the independent research groups at the Institute.

The Institute is made up of two research clusters, each led by a director, and three independent research groups. It hosts some 50 researchers, including about 20 PhD students. The Institute offers outstanding facilities and a vibrant international working atmosphere; the working languages are English and German.
