21 to 27 July 2022

It is a great pleasure and honor to invite you to the 46th World Conference of the International Council for Traditional Music which will take place in Lisbon from 21 to 27 July 2022. While we regret that the COVID pandemic prevented us from holding the conference in 2021, we are excited about the opportunities of holding an innovative hybrid conference and reach a wider audience that a conference can possibly include. Participants from around the world are expected to actively participate in this event.

This upcoming Conference will be held under a set of themes that highlight innovative and socially significant inquiry and innovations in music and dance research around the world, including health and climate, human rights, industries, archiving, ocean and land connections and cosmopolitanisms. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides the ethical support for the embracing of the Sustainable Development Goals, and associated thematic issues in the Conference.

We are certain that this will be a platform to gather and disseminate the latest knowledge in recent advancements in emerging areas of diversified research fields covered during a conference that will provide a platform for the participants to share experiences and knowledge through several sessions, film presentations, workshops and performances.

The event is organized by INET, the Institute for Ethnomusicology of the New University of Lisbon, a transdisciplinary research center that develops artistic research and creation in the fields of music and dance; our team will be thrilled to make shure that all of you find this conference stimulating, rewarding and meaningful for debate and networking.

The program and all information about the event are available on the conference’s official website at https://www.ictm2022.org/
