Call for Sessions and Papers
Power, domination, enforced cooperation, consent, and hegemony. Violence, threat of violence, scarcity, need, constrained interaction, charisma, and ritual. Structure, system, dispositif, institution, custom, fashion, habit, and drive. These are some of the words used to describe power and governance, i.e. patterned social interaction in which some actors are better off than others, and some paths for the future are opened while others closed. In the sixth biennial Power Conference we gather at the University of Tampere in August 2018 to probe whether something general can be said about the forms, dynamics and consequences of power. We study alternative ways to approach the issue and ask what kind of irreconcilable contradictions there are. We also seek ways to open and promote new and fruitful approaches in the field. Parallel, open sessions provide the possibility to discuss versatile topics, whereas plenary sessions with two keynote talks and a related special session with three or four papers are this time on the following topics: theorizing power relations, global governance, power and knowledge, and critique of power. Welcome to Tampere to feel the power!

A special session of 3–4 papers follows each of the four thematic plenaries with the plenarists as discussants. We are delighted to invite you to submit abstracts for one of the special sessions, a parallel session, or as a general submission (list of sessions accepted thus far and reaching its final form on 15 January 2018 is available at http://www.uta.fi/power2018/).
To submit a session proposal, please send the title and description of the planned session (length 100–250 words) through the conference management system at https://www.lyyti.in/power2018_cfs by 31 December 2017 at the latest. Session organizers will be notified by 15 January 2018.
To submit a paper proposal, please send the title and abstract (100–200 words) through the conference management system https://www.lyyti.in/power2018_cfp by 30 March 2018 at the latest. Please select whether you want your paper to be included in one of the special sessions, one of the other accepted parallel sessions, or as a general submission. Contributors will be notified by 15 April 2018.

Contributed papers will be presented orally at the Second International Conference on the Methodology of Longitudinal Surveys (MOLS2) at the University of Essex, UK on 25-27 July 2018 and may be eligible for submission to a special journal issue.

Contributed papers will be presented orally at the conference at the University of Essex, UK on 25-27 July 2018 and may be eligible for submission to a special journal issue.
Contributed papers should address methodological issues that are specific to the context of longitudinal data collection. This means any type of quantitative survey that involves collecting information on multiple occasions from the same subjects.
Topics of interest include, but need not be limited to:
Dynamic sampling to represent dynamic populations, including sample rotation and refreshment sampling; Methods for tracking mobile sample members over time; Methods for maintaining co-operation over time; Targeted design features for response maximisation; The use of longitudinal survey paradata for field management; Measurement error issues specific to longitudinal surveys, including respondent conditioning; Advances in dependent interviewing techniques; Instrument design for longitudinal surveys; New data collection methods and technologies to improve or extend longitudinal survey measurement; Obtaining consent to data linkage in a longitudinal context; The opportunities and challenges of longitudinal data linkage; The design of longitudinal surveys for biosocial research; Mixed mode designs for longitudinal surveys; Imputation methods for longitudinal surveys; Advances in statistical modelling for complex longitudinal survey data; Analysis methods for repeated measures, duration and event data; Methods for dealing with sampling and nonsampling errors in the analysis of longitudinal data; Issues in weighting for longitudinal surveys; Variance estimation for longitudinal surveys.
How do I submit an abstract?
Abstracts of not more than 400 words should be submitted online by 8 December 2017. Please ensure that the abstract states clearly the topic, how you will address it, and what data or methods you will use. Authors will be informed whether or not their submission has been accepted by 26 January 2018. The presenting author of a contributed paper is required to register for the conference by 1 June 2018.

Trata-se de iniciativas dirigidas principalmente a pessoas que se encontram nas fases iniciais do seu percurso académico, tendo por objectivo valorizar e estimular o interesse pelo estudo e investigação da Economia Política numa perspectiva inter e pluridisciplinar entre os estudantes e os novos investigadores.
