[SIDE-ISLE 2019] Deadline for the call for papers approaching – University of Milan (La Statale), December 19-21, 2019
The Italian Society of Law and Economics (ISLE – SIDE) welcomes submissions of papers on any topic regarding Law and Economics for its 15th annual conference to be held in Milan at the University of Milan (La Statale) on December 19-21, 2019.
Keynote speakers will be:

• Prof. Kaushik Basu – Cornell University
• Prof. Stefan Grundmann – European University Institute
A special workshop on Getting economists and jurists to work together: from methods to practice will be held on December 19th.
ISLE-SIDE invites contributions on all aspects related to Law and Economics, such as Bankruptcy, Behavioural Law and Economics, Competition Policy and Antitrust Law and Economics, Corporate Governance and Corporate Law, Criminal Law, Environmental Law and Economics, Constitutional law, Costitutional Political Economy & Social justice, Family Law and Economics, History of Law and Economic Thought, Institutional and New-Institutional Economics, Intellectual Property, Judicial Decision-Making, Law & Social Norms, Law and Finance, Regulation, Securities Law, and Taxation, Labour law & economics, Economic institutions for Sustainable Development, Human rights, International law and economics, the Institutional Economics of Inequalities, New theoretical approaches to law and economics.
We particularly welcome submissions by young scholars. in order to favour their participation the following initiatives will be taken:
• On the first day of the conference (Thursday 19th, afternoon) an introductory workshop will be held on Getting economists and jurists to work together: from methods to practice.
• SIDE-ISLE will award the 7th Brenno Galli Prize of 1000 Swiss Francs for the most promising paper presented by young scholars.
• The registration fee for young scholars who have registered on time and who will check-in at the registration desk during the first day of the conference (Thursday 19th) will be reduced to 50€
People from the Local Organizing Committee and the Advisory Board will select the papers to be presented at the Conference. Priority will be given to completed papers. Given the growing number of international scholars participating to the conference, we strongly encouraged scholars to submit their work in English. A draft or completed paper shall be submitted online through our website.

Call for papers: Conference “Media literacy in a media-rich ecology”
The ISCTE-IUL, Lisbon in association with the European project MediaCoach Initiative is pleased to announce a call for proposals for the Conference “Media literacy in a media-rich ecology”, which will be held December 4, 2019 (Wednesday), at the ISCTE-IUL, Portugal (https://www.iscte-iul.pt/).
Concerning the theme:
Media literacy in a media-rich ecology
As the current digitally mediated environment becomes an ever more substantial means through which individuals structure their personal and social lives, it is increasingly important that they understand the complex nature of the media ecology. The media permeates virtually all domains of the lives of common citizens, embedded in domestic and social lives, education and training, work and leisure. Though it offers plenty of opportunities in all these areas, it also poses challenges at the personal and societal levels. Given the fast pace of technological change in our current media-rich ecology, the increasing of media-literate individuals is seen as a desirable societal goal in an age where media illiteracy tends to be regarded as problematic as traditional illiteracy. This environment also prompts a renewed effort to conceptualize, measure and disseminate media literacy worldwide, posing its own challenges for research and policy.
This conference wants not only to reach the scholar community interested in digital and media literacy, but also to encourage non-profit organizations and activists working on media literacy related initiatives to join us in discussion.
There will be three panels with the following topics:
1 – Digital literacy related activism and non-profit Organizations
2 – New digital devices, new challenges in media literacy?
3 – Digital literacy and Policy
Submission Information:

Each submission should include a title, an abstract, up to five keywords, a brief biography for the authors and current affiliation.
The proposals must be submitted in English. The conference language is English.
Proposals should also indicate the thematic panel of the communication to be presented.

Selected presentations will be invited to publish in a special issue of the Scientific Journal Observatorio (OBS*) (http://obs.obercom.pt/index.php/obs).

Chamada de resumos: Workshop “Economia Circular e Sustentabilidade” (SOCIUS CSG/ISEG-Ulisboa)
A Linha de Investigação Desenvolvimento Sustentável, Terceiro Sector e Redes Sociais do SOCIUS – Centro de Investigação em Sociologia Económica e das Organizações do CSG/ISEG-Ulisboa – convida-os/as a participar no Workshop “Economia Circular e Sustentabilidade”.
Os resumos deverão ser enviados para o email sociuseventos@iseg.ulisboa.pt. A data limite para envio de resumos será dia 31 Outubro de 2019.
Haverá uma seleção das comunicações para posterior publicação em livro, com ISBN.
Os termos economia circular e sustentabilidade estão a ganhar força em ambientes académicos, no mercado e na administração pública. As semelhanças e diferenças entre os dois conceitos permanecem ambíguas. Observa-se uma necessidade urgente de transição para os sistemas sociotécnicos mais sustentáveis (ONU, GOALS, Agenda 2030). Problemas ambientais, como perda de biodiversidade, poluição da água, do ar e do solo, esgotamento de recursos e uso excessivo da terra, estão a colocar cada vez mais em risco os sistemas de sustentação da vida (ONU, GOALS). As expectativas da sociedade não são satisfeitas devido a questões como o alto desemprego, más condições de trabalho, vulnerabilidade social, a armadilha da pobreza, a equidade inter e intrageracional e o aumento das desigualdades (Stiglitz & Sen, 2016). Desafios económicos, expostos pela atual crise de mercado revelam a fragilidade no campo da economia, e.g.: o risco de fornecimento, mercados desregulamentados e politicas públicas com falhas, levam a instabilidades financeiras e económicas cada vez mais frequentes para a sociedade civil, empresas individuais e economias inteiras (Sachs, 2015). Para abordar essas e outras questões de sustentabilidade, o conceito da economia circular – embora não inteiramente novo – recentemente ganhou importância nas agendas dos formuladores de políticas. Tal é evidente, por exemplo, no abrangente pacote da Economia Circular Europeia (Comissão Europeia, 2015).

CALL FOR PAPERS – II Seminário Internacional JEDI – Jovens, Educação, Diversidade e Inovação: Cruzando Fronteiras
O II Seminário Internacional Jovens, Educação, Diversidade e Inovação é um evento científico organizado pela equipa da comunidade prática de investigação JEDI – Jovens, Educação, Diversidade e Inovação do Centro de Investigação e Intervenção Educativas (CIIE) da FPCEUP com a finalidade de partilhar investigação e intervenção no campo das juventudes e educação.
O seminário BORDER CROSSING pretende ser um desafio às construções sobre o que é ser jovem, às narrativas dominantes sobre juventudes, suas culturas e identidades, suas posicionalidades e territórios.
Este seminário sustenta-se na experiência de investigação em regiões de fronteira e de outras investigações no campo das juventudes, do desenvolvimento local, inclusão e diversidade, e pretende criar um espaço onde o conceito Fronteira, na sua vertente geográfica, mas também analítica e simbólica, possa ser discutido para pensar os/as jovens, as suas agendas e culturas, na relação com as suas regiões e a Europa.
Propõe-se ultrapassar aqui uma ideia mais geopolítica de fronteira e avançar para uma reflexão mais alargada sobre o modo como as disciplinas, os contextos, as organizações pensam as juventudes e o que estas pensam sobre si e o seu lugar no mundo social e educativo.
O II Seminário Internacional JEDI realiza-se no dia 28 de novembro de 2019, na Faculdade de Psicologia e de Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto (FPCEUP).
Convite à submissão de trabalhos:
Convidam-se todos/as os/as interessados/as a submeterem as suas propostas até 1 de Outubro de 2019, num máximo de 300 palavras (referências bibliográficas não incluídas) tomando como referência os seguintes cinco eixos temáticos:
1. Abordagens de resiliência de escolas e comunidades na construção de percursos educativos de jovens;
2. Desenvolvimento de competências interculturais em contextos educativos formais e não formais para a inclusão de jovens na sua diversidade;
3. Culturas digitais, mobilidade e mundo do trabalho;
4. Inovação social, participação e liderança juvenil;
5. Jovens e construção de sentimentos de pertença a contextos educativos.
Formato:
Os trabalho(s) a apresentar deverá(ão) focar-se num dos eixos temáticos propostos e poderá(ão) ser apresentado(s) em quatro formatos distintos:
1. Comunicações Orais (tempo limite de 15 minutos)
2. Twin Talks (Formato de apresentação em que duas pessoas de áreas disciplinares diferentes apresentam investigação desenvolvida em conjunto. Este formato permite o cruzamento interdisciplinar, muito relevante nos estudos em torno de jovens, com potencial para criar leituras mais complexas e integradas das questões juvenis. O estímulo a esta participação enfatizará ainda a pertinência das comunicações darem conta de trabalho colaborativo entre instituições de natureza diferente (instituições de I&D e autarquias, ou associações, por exemplo), ou entre pessoas que desempenham diferentes papéis numa investigação (investigador/a e jovem, por exemplo). (tempo limite de 15 minutos).
3. Poster (Formato A1 devendo conter: resumo, metodologia, resultados, conclusões e referências bibliográficas)
4. Pitching (Formato de apresentação para projetos de intervenção, num máximo de 5 minutos).
Estes formatos abrem espaço ao debate em pequeno grupo, considerando-se que a reflexão promovida e a disseminação do conhecimento permitirão repensar processos e práticas.
Submissão:
A submissão dos resumos deve ser feita num documento Word, a enviar por email para jedi@fpce.up.pt, indicando no assunto “Submissão – II JEDI 2019”, e referindo:
– Os/as autores/as, filiação institucional, país, contacto de email;
– Um título;
– Um máximo de 3 palavras-chave relacionadas com o título;
– O eixo temático a que se refere o trabalho;
– O formato de apresentação escolhido.
