Internationalising Vegan Sociology | October 3 & 4, 2026 | Online

Call for Paper Deadline: May 31, 2026

From the start, the International Association for Vegan Sociologists has provided a platform for vegan sociologists across the world to share research expertise, ideas, methodologies, and facilitate collaborations in service of nonhuman animal liberation and veganism. In the 2026 meeting of the International Association of Vegan Sociologists we want to invite participants to consider how we can achieve IAVS’s aim to increase the visibility, legitimacy of, and collaboration within vegan sociology internationally, and how connecting local and international contexts is important to understanding and challenging nonhuman animal exploitation on a global scale, and to build a more just world for nonhuman and human animals alike.

Potential topics include (but are not limited to):

  • How to increase the visibility and legitimacy of vegan sociology internationally?
  • How to increase international vegan sociology collaboration and how to navigate institutional barriers?
  • How can vegan sociology help in decolonizing knowledge?
  • Vegan Sociological research on international Animal Rights and Vegan movements and activism
  • Research looking into vegan trends on social media and online vegan communities
  • Intersectional perspectives on the global connections between nonhuman animal oppression and exploitation
  • The impact of economic globalisation on nonhuman animal lives in different countries
  • Vegan sociology perspectives on global trends impacting vegan scholars and vegan activists across the world
  • Sociological theories and methodologies of international relevance and applications in local contexts
