ACADEMIC VACANCY – CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY

Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Chair of the Department of Sociology (www.sociology.uwo.ca), Faculty of Social Science, at Western University, effective July 1, 2019, or as negotiated. The Chair will be appointed at the Full Professor level with tenure. An appointment as Chair will normally be for a fiveyear term, renewable. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Sociology or a closely related discipline, and provide evidence of research excellence through a record of internationally recognized publication in the discipline’s leading journals and strong endorsements from referees. Candidates must have strong quantitative research expertise, preferably in the general area of population dynamics and inequality.
The ideal
candidate will be able to demonstrate skills mentoring students and an outstanding record of teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience, be a change agent, a decisive leader and excellent communicator.

Faculty of Social Science, the Department of Sociology offers full programs for undergraduate, MA, and PhD students.
