Topic: “Beyond Knowledge: Confidence and the Gender Gap in Financial Literacy”

Examples of topics that fit this workshop are:

Life-cycle consumption and saving profiles.
Older persons and migration.
Housing and ageing populations.
Economic policies in ageing societies.
Well-being or happiness in later life.
Age-friendly communities.
The economic status of the elderly.
Poverty, income distribution inequality, and social exclusion.
Living arrangements and care arrangements.
Intergenerational transfers, both public and private.
Insurance and ageing.
Population ageing in developing countries.
Databases and statistics for research on ageing.

Date and venue
The workshop will take place on 17-18 October 2025, at ISEG, Universidade de Lisboa.

Submission for the workshop
Interested authors are invited to submit a proposal containing the title, name(s) of the author(s), institutional affiliation(s), and a structured abstract organized as Motivation for Research, Methods and Data, Results, Discussion.

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 2 June 2025.

Notification of acceptance
The authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by mid-June 2025.

Discussion of papers
Each presenter will have their paper commented on by an assigned discussant and should be prepared to review and comment on another paper. For that purpose, completed draft papers will be expected by 15 September 2025.

Registration
Accepted papers require registration with a fee of 200€, covering access to all sessions, conference materials, proceedings, coffee breaks, and lunch on Friday.

Special Issue
A selection of the papers presented at the workshop will (assuming successful completion of the review process) be published in a special issue of the Journal of the Economics of Ageing (http://www.journals.elsevier.com/the-journal-of-the-economics-of-ageing/).
The special issue’s topic will be on Gender Disparities in Ageing.
