Call for papers “DIFFERENTIAL MOBILITIES IN CONTEMPORARY CITIES”of Revista Forum Sociológico

Dear Colleagues,

Please disseminate the call for papers “DIFFERENTIAL MOBILITIES IN CONTEMPORARY CITIES”of Revista Forum Sociológico, organized by Ana Marcela Ardila Pinto (Department of Sociology, University of Minas Gerais (UMG), Brazil), Eugênia Cerqueira Viana (Department of Sociology, University of Minas Gerais (UMG), Brazil) and

Natalia Villamizar Duarte (School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, Newcastle University, United Kingdom).All article proposals, both review and empirical, must be sent in their complete version by email (.docx format) to Forum Sociológico (forum@fcsh.unl.pt) with the title of the special issue in the subject field and by September 15th, 2025.

Original proposals for scientific articles written in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French will be accepted.

Articles can include qualitative and quantitative approaches, case studies or comparative analyses. It should preferably be empirical research that contributes to understanding these practices. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

Analysing the mobility strategies employed by women, older people, low-income populations and other groups with differential mobilities.
Intersections between mobility and social capital: How does unequal access to mobility reflect and perpetuate social inequalities?
Impacts of digital platforms (such as Uber, 99, etc.) on the mobilities of vulnerable groups
Differential mobilities in the urban context: experiences and practices of travelling beyond compulsory reasons (leisure, family care, among others).
The relationship between mobility and urban exclusion/inclusion: How do individuals develop strategies to access urban spaces and services?
Public mobility policies and their impact (or lack of impact) on marginalised groups.
Political mobilisation strategies to guarantee the right to mobility.

Call for Papers – International Conference Cartographies of Platform Labour in the Digital City (Madrid, 5–7 November 2025)

We are pleased to announce the International Conference Cartographies of Platform Labour in the Digital City, which will take place at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED, Madrid, Spain) from 5–7 November 2025.

The conference will provide a critical space to explore how platform capitalism is reshaping labour, urban infrastructures, and social reproduction, while generating new forms of precarity, migration regimes, and urban inequality. It will also highlight the innovative practices of organisation, resistance, and solidarity developed by workers, unions, cooperatives, and grassroots collectives.

We welcome contributions addressing themes such as:

Precarity, algorithmic control and labour fragmentation
Migration, borders and racial capitalism
Feminisation and social reproduction
Resistance, solidarity and mobilisation
Urban transformations and inequalities
Methods and cartographies of platformisation

Keynote speakers include: Moritz Altenried, Olivia Blanchard, Lorenzo Cini, Anne Dufresne, Júlia Nueno, Kristina Zampoukos, Ramón Ribera Fumaz, Paula Rodríguez-Modroño, and Nuria Soto.

A Sociedade Portuguesa de Ciências da Educação (SPCE) convida todos os profissionais e estudantes da área da educação a participar no II Encontro “A (Boa) Educação na Escola: perspetivas, práticas e desafios”.

Este encontro pretende dar visibilidade à educação que se constrói nas escolas — uma educação crítica, transformadora e inclusiva, orientada pelos princípios da equidade, diversidade, justiça social e relacionalidade.

Procuram-se projetos, experiências e reflexões que:

– valorizem o trabalho de professores, educadores e outros profissionais;
– envolvam a comunidade educativa;
– promovam inovação, bem-estar e justiça social nas escolas.
