Call for manuscripts for a special volume of Contemporary Perspectives in Family Research on” Technology and Families: Digital Dynamics,
Entanglements, and Perspectives.” https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/calls-for-books/call-papers-technology-and-families-digital-dynamics-entanglements-and-perspectives

Technology and Families: Digital Dynamics, Entanglements and Perspectives 70 years after the publication of Technology and the Changing Family by W.F. Ogburn and M.F. Nimkoff (1955), the relationship between the family and technology has never been more topical. Not unlike the impact of industrialization upon families in the 1800s, the lives of contemporary families are increasingly interwoven with technology. Cell phones, social media, video games, and other forms of evolving technology have become firmly embedded in the daily lives and relationships in families.

This volume seeks a range of contributions that explore the multiple and complex relationships between families and digitalization around the world from a theoretical and empirical perspective, bringing current and innovative perspectives to the topic. Given the topic, all conceptual, theoretical, and methodological approaches are welcome. Topics may include, among others: the construction (and deconstruction) of family relationships; the articulation of work and family life; the shaping of parent-child relationships through technology; how family perceptions of society are shaped by technology; intergenerational divides as a consequence of technology; how AI and technology has redefined privacy in the family; smart technologies and family identity construction; the shifts from physical intimacy to digital intimacy; parenting through technology; emotional expression across kin networks and the role of social media; technology addiction (e.g., cell phone use, online gaming) and family relationships; and the impact of technology upon family aspirations (e.g., marriage, childbearing).

Submission Guidelines:
Manuscripts should be limited to approximately 10,000 words, adhere to APA format, and submitted as MS WORD documents Include an abstract of 150–250 words at the beginning of the manuscript. Dr. Rosalina Pisco Costa (University of Évora, Portugal) and Dr. Sampson Lee Blair (State University of New York, USA) will serve as coeditors for this volume.
Please submit manuscripts directly to the editors at rosalina@uevora.pt and slblair@buffalo.edu. Manuscript submission to this call for papers implies a commitment to publishing with CPFR. All submissions must be original work and will undergo peer review. There are no submission or publication fees.
