In this webinar, experienced creative researchers will shed light on what it means to bring creativity to both theory and practice, and provide the tools that will allow you to embark on this journey.

Drawing on fiction writing, poetry, visual art and the creative space within phenomenographic research, the panellists will discuss the strengths and challenges of bringing creativity to research to allow us to better explore the different ways people think about the world.

The panellists

Amanda Taylor-Beswick is Director of Centre for Digital Transformation at the University of Cumbria and co-author of ‘Doing Phenomenography’ (Policy Press).

Leah Gilman, Welcome Trust Research Fellow in the Department of Sociological Studies at The University of Sheffield and co-authored of ‘Fiction and Research’ (Policy Press).

Nicole Brown is Director of Social Research & Practice and Education Ltd and Associate Professor at University College London and author of ‘Making the Most of Your Research Journey’ (Policy Press), co-author of ‘Embodied Inquiry: Research Methods’ (Bloomsbury) and the upcoming books ‘Photovoice Reimagined’ (Policy Press) and ‘Creativity in Education: International Perspectives’ (UCL Press).

The event will be chaired by Helen Kara, a leading independent researcher, author, teacher and speaker specialising in research methods, particularly creative methods, and research ethics. Helen is an academic author with over 25 titles and 1000 citations; notably ‘Creative Research Methods: A Practical Guide and Research’ and ‘Evaluation for Busy Students and Practitioners’, both in their second editions.
